Song of Spring

As the Hellebore peeked from the window box into the front room, I could see that the First Day of Spring looked promising!

I had noticed that the rose garden in town had been recently pruned, so off I went to prune mine. I also picked up evergreen branches, and raked up the front yard to celebrate the day.

A little Townsend's Warbler arrived once I'd finished and sat on a branch for the longest time as if it was taking note of the tidier lawn. Meanwhile a Robin serenaded from an overhead wire, which has been somewhat doctored for the occasion ;)

I was hoping for a colorful sunset as I set off for my walk to see how Harzel was doing.

Although it started to drizzle, the evening held some interesting silhouettes.

I was delighted to find Harzel sprouting leaves!

A cottontail bunny hopped out of the copse beside Harzel and down the trail he went. My photo didn't turn out well, though, as it made me jump!

Once I arrived back home, beautiful bird song was playing in my garden. I will try and download a short video later so it can be heard.

A great First Day of Spring!

  1. Isn't it just great when the first day of Spring delivers so nicely? It was a beautiful day here too.
I must stop by more frequently, you've been very busy! I adored the foamy scenes. So pleased your knee has recovered. Mo

  2. Nice to see Harzel agrees that Spring has arrived. Snap - I was also undertaking some pruning yesterday, including my dwarf roses.

  4. Love the creativity of the bird on the musical staff shot. And that first one of the flower is a beauty!

  5. Yes the first day of Spring was lovely, Mo, and here at last! Glad to hear yours was lovely. Please do drop by when you can ~ and the knee, sorry to say, seems to have had a setback. Hopefully there will be some improvement before long.

Hi John ~ Harzel was in fine spirits with his little green tufts of leaves. It will be interesting to see what, if anything, else he grows. Now we can both look forward to roses blooming :)

Hi Flighty ~ I noticed on your weather forecast that you are in for some lovely sunny days. Here it is hovering around 10C during the day, and often cloudy ~ in fact today I drove through a small hail shower! I'm sure you'll get lots of planting done!

Hi Hilary ~ When I noticed the robin sitting on what could be the 'G' line, I thought I'd complete the set! Thanks re the Hellebore which did seem as if it was looking in!
