Windy Wednesday

Making Days Count 5

Warmer but windy! The wind was blowing at 27km/hr this morning, but by 4 p.m. it had calmed down to 14km/hr, so off I went to visit Harzel. He was being tousled and blown about, but agreed to star in his movie debut. Introducing Harzel (Harry) Corylus avellana Lauder in his first motion picture ...

Earlier today, two Varied Thrushes were evident through the front window. The male has the striking markings as seen in yesterday's blog. I think the one in this video is a female as the markings are not so defined. She was having a heck of a time trying to feed off the small suet feeders, but finally had more success at the newly hung woodpecker mix feeder. The photos and videos were taken out of the front window as these particular birds seem easily startled.

  1. That sure is a posh, and long, proper name Harry has got!
Those thrushes are wonderful looking birds. Thrushes are rare hereabouts and I've only seen a couple in the past few years.
It's been dull and wet here today. Flighty xx

  2. Hi Flighty ~ Yes, Harry seemed to start out quite simply, but as more information comes forward, he's much more complex than he first appeared. He is quite proper, though :)
These thrushes make a long whistle sound which you can hear on this site if you'd like:

Dull and wet here today, as well... however, sun should be back soon!
