Warming up next Wednesday!

Temperature: 1.8 C  at 10:56 p.m.
L: -1.7 C, H: 7.9 C

Check out the temperatures! Do those look like Spring temperatures to you? Not to me! It's been freezing with freshly fallen snow at higher levels.   Spring is waiting until next week before showing up again.

I wasn't going to go far today, but I was on the lookout for something that could not be found locally, so through the giant forest and over the mountain I went!

After a successful trip, I was welcomed home by a robin on the front lawn that had managed to find one ray of sunshine.

I spent much of the evening reading. I am enjoying the Flavia de Luce series by Alan Bradley on my ereader. and have just finished the third book, A Red Herring Without Mustard.

  1. Hi Glo, Your wonderful scenery never fails to impress me, to see sights like that on a daily basis must be amazing!

I'm glad you managed to identify your mystery bird (with the yellow colouring) it was one of the ones I thought most likely but really couldn't be sure. Hopefully we will get a better look at it one day.

I enjoyed the video and stills of the Spotted Towhee and your Mountain Bluebird was really lovely, what a delightful bird!

I read the information about the totem pole which was interesting but of course I was even more impressed by the Bald Eagle on the top of it ;)

Nice to see the Northern Flicker too, such a busy bird! I was lucky enough to get some Green Woodpecker photos for my blog this week :)

Your Spotted Towhee looks a little like the Varied Thrush in colouring, to me but I see the Spotted Towhee is a member of the sparrow family which surprised me.

A most enjoyable catch up with your week's adventures Glo and I do hope those temperatures do some catching up soon too :)

  3. Spring sure is taking it's time over this year, and it's still looking far too wintry!
I've read the first Flavia de Luce book, which I enjoyed and found it rather quirky! The next two are on my 'to read' list.

  4. Lovely to read your comment ShySongbird and see that you have caught up with me :) It's a lovely area to live in and I try not to take the scenery for granted. Now that I have more time, I am able to appreciate it more. Haven't seen the yellow-rumped warbler again. The Blue Bird was a treat! Eagles like to have a great view, so the totem pole was perfect! Many of the birds seem to have a touch of orangy-red, which helps me see them! I hope it warms up soon too.
Looking forward t seeing your Green Woodpecker!

Hi Adrian ~ Those photos were of an old growth forest, and it is an impressive sight indeed. Glad you are enjoying seeing my part of the world.

Hi Flighty ~ You're right - it is still too wintry around here! The only good thing is that the daffodils are still blooming :)

Quirky is a good way to describe the Flavia de Luce novels. Fun to read!
