A rather cool and wet day that didn't look inviting at all! I noticed a 'new' bird on my feeders and quickly grabbed my camera, before realizing that the card was still in my card reader. By the time my camera was in working order, all I could see was the bird's back, with just a tinge of yellow at the side.
I did notice Mr. & Mrs. Spotted Towhee jumping around the front, but the weather made it difficult to take any photos.
Often when it is miserable outside, I bake! Today I made three things - one went into the compost bucket, because even though it had apples in it, the rest was rubbery. First and last time for that recipe. The other two items turned out well - a large carrot cake and a chocolate cake.
Not too much accomplished today, but at least it was warm and cozy inside, with the pleasant aroma and taste of baking to accompany me :) My freezer will be well stocked!
I hope that it soon gets sunny and warm there. It's set to get cooler and damp here by mid week.
ReplyDeleteI also hope that you see that bird again and identify it.
The cakes look and sound rather delicious! Flighty xx
I need to cook for the freezer! Knew there was something I should be doing! lol!
ReplyDeleteOh goodness Glo! Do you have to?? That chocolate cake looks wonderful... and just as I was trying to convince myself I didn't feel hungry ;)
ReplyDeleteI have spent a pleasant half hour trying to identify your bird but with not too much to go on ;) have had no luck so far. I thought I had it a couple of times but couldn't be sure and don't want to confuse matters. I will try again later but hopefully someone else will know.
Love the African Geese video, what strange looking creatures they are!
I too have senior moments. I've solved your problem. Buy another card or three. Take one out and put one in. Easy! Nice shots for bad weather birding. Vile here today but as I type this the sun is just out.
ReplyDeleteA bit of sunshine today, Flighty, but a cool wind. I have tried to identify the bird but no luck yet. I hope it comes back. The cakes are yummy! Thanks :)
ReplyDeleteHi Denise ~ I think you've got enough going on without worrying about baking! :)
Hi ShySongbird ~ I'll serve you up a slice :) Thanks for trying to identify my new bird! I sure hope it comes back. Yes, those African Geese were fascinating and very vocal at first. The owner said that they are like 'guard dogs' and she can tell by their sounds if there are strangers about, and when they are just chatting with each other.
Hi Adrian ~ Yes, I actually bought another one when I left home without the card in the camera. Good idea to put another one in when I take the first one out! Usually I download the photos and put the card right back in the camera - forgot this time, though. I'm enjoying your photos!
