Another great day for birds!

Yesterday's youtube I put up was akin to the facial contortions I experienced while waiting for 1/2 hour to talk to a real person on the phone about income tax !

Today my friend invited me to go to Victoria with her. It was a dullish showery day, but we made the most of it by going out for lunch...and later dinner :)

Before I left this morning:

Once in Victoria, we stopped at the park and found some squirrels, although they were in the shade. I remembered to take peanuts!

Suddenly, we came face to face with a heron, who took one look and headed for the hedge~

Spring shone through the drizzle - Trilliums:

On the way home we stopped at the Crow and Gate Pub and noticed that the Australian Black Swans had produced a lovely fuzzy grey batch of cygnets :)

Tomorrow I have to return to Victoria for an appointment with the tax man or lady...because they don't make same day appointments ;)  I see. I hope I can resist doing my facial exercises.

  2. I really loved looking at these. Nothing like looking into the big wide world.

  3. Oh! So many pretty things to see. Wish I'd seen that backflip :-) The spring flowers are really lovely. And those little fuzzy-headed cygnets are darling.

  5. What a handsome heron, beware of swans with chicks, they can get very protective

  6. Thanks Juliet. I'm enjoying watching the Spotted Towhees as they become much more visible. They're quite the characters.

I'm glad you liked the photos Adrian, seeing wild life from this neck of the woods :)

Hi Nikki ~ the backflip caught the Towhee and me by surprise! The cygnets were really sweet looking! The spring flowers are in a 'hold' position as it's still cold!

Hi Flighty ~ It was the closest I've ever been to a heron. It was walking towards me and I nearly dropped! It nonchalantly strolled over to the hedge area and just stood there peering at the water. There is a heronry in the park.

Thanks UPDD, I'm glad you liked the heron. Yes, I was quite wary of getting too close to the swans, however on reading about them later, found that the black swans are not as aggressive as some.
