Bud and Bird

Making Days Count 36

When comparing Harzel's bud growth over the last month, I see a slight change. These little buds are about 1/8" long, so not much to see!

A Towsend's Warbler stayed at the bird feeder when I was outside. Its markings are quite striking. I think he looks to have a bit of an evil eye, though!

Well, I'm off swimming soon. Last night I had the pool all to myself!

  1. The Townsend Warbler is a pretty bird. It always looks to me as though it is wearing snow goggles with that dark marking round its eyes.

  3. Yes, it does look like it's wearing goggles, John, and it seems to be a very frequent visior...well, there is often more than one.

Crafty Green Poet ~ it is quite striking in appearance although it is so small. It will be interesting to see when those small buds will open :)

  4. Yes, it looks remarkably like a tiny bit of growth. I saw a twisty tree at the arboretum this weekend and wondered if it were related to Harzel. But alas, it was a weeping white mulberry.

  5. There's no sign of growth on my hawthorn, but plenty on the roses.
I agree that the warbler is a lovely looking bird. Flighty xx
