  1. Oh yes let's! What fun it is for children of all ages.
I'm going to have to find something about kites to do in an entry on Flighty's fancies! xx

  2. The other day when I went shopping, I deciding to have some lunch at the park and saw these two fellows assembling a kite. This particular field is great for kite-flying, as are many areas around here. In fact, Kite-Flying Day was held at this field yesterday. I actually thought of Flights of Fancy when I saw what fun they were having. Great fun, indeed!

  3. Let's go flyyy a kite and send it soaring!

You thought of the song too.

Have you read the novel "The Kite Runner"?

  4. We are both well in to our forties and we still go and fly a kite up on the South Downs. It is very good exercise with all the running around, although these days it is quite tough on the arm muscles, I haven't so much strength in them as I used to in my younger days! x

  5. The kite song in Mary Poppins was a favorite of mine when I was little. We used to put on the LP and I would run around the living room as if I were flying a kite I suppose. Kites are great fun. I haven't sent one up in many a year. We used to make them at home and fly them in the neighborhood. Sometimes the tail was too heavy and so we had trouble getting it up. Then you could buy acetate ones at the store but I liked the homemade ones best.

  6. Hi Liv ~ Thanks for dropping by :) I was given the book by a friend who recommended it, but I haven't read it yet. I've heard it's excellent.

ello Louise ~ Good to hear you still both fly kites ~ there's something very freeing about it! Great fun and good exercise, as you say.

Hi Roomie ~ That's a cute image you've created about running around with your pretend kite to the music! I don't think I've ever made a homemade kite, but can imagine there is an added feeling of accomplishment once it gets off the ground!

  7. I read "A Thousand Splendid Suns" first, given to me by a friend. I think it is even more powerful, and the author's second. So I recommend both.

  9. Liv ~ Thanks for the recommendations :)

Nikki ~ I don't know the words off by heart, but definitely the first bit! Glad you enjoyed the fun ...
