Rain and Sunflowers

Flighty has shown us his sunflowers, so out I went on this rainy day, to see how mine were doing. There are only a few, but I think the tallest is about 7 feet high.

Since I had my camera in hand, I had a little wander around the garden to see what else I could find.

I really love tuberous begonias, and have a few of different colours in and amongst my window boxes.

The Hot Cocoa rose seems to be gathering raindrops!

The sundeck in the rain doesn't seem very inviting ~

and Mr. Spider is still surfing the web...

This fuschia survived from last year to bloom again, and the New Guinea impatiens adds a cheery note to the table on the deck.

I picked some Folklore roses, because the branches were bending quite low ~ and put them on my kitchen window sill.

Even though it was a bit of a blustery wet day, the colourful flowers brightened it up!

  1. Those sunflowers can bring cheer whatever the weather! And your begonias are so pretty. I like that fluffy ruffly red one quite well. What a lovely collection of colour you've got despite the rain.

  2. Thanks Nikki ~ :) Yes, I agree, they are cheerful! I think you like red ruffly flowers...like my peony, and roses too. Later on I'm going to put the begonia tubers in a cardboard box in peat moss over the winter. Sometimes I wait too long and the bulbs are mushy!

  3. They look great, and are taller than mine by at least a couple of feet! And is that a bumblebee on the last one?
It's nice to see plenty of colour when it's dull like that.
Thanks for the linked mention. xx

  4. Perhaps you would rather have sun than rain Glo but I have to admit a little rain sounds really good to me! Love to see your flowers---even on a wet day :-)

  6. Flighty ~ If min are taller, it's probably because we have had more sun this summer than you have and yes, that is a bumblebee on the sunflower. You're more than welcome about the mention :)

Roomie ~ actually rain is indeed welcome, but autumn is definitely in the air as well. When the sun comes out, it is still very pleasant, but when it hides away, it's a little coolish! Glad you enjoy my flowers:)

Daffy ! Very happy to cheer you up with sunflowers and swinging rabbirs ;) LOL I enjoyed putting it all together, and pleased you got a kick out of it!

  7. Glo you have a lovely garden. The rain seems very familiar and I so agree the colours of the garden do brighten the spirits on a dull day. I really must have begonias next year, my step-dad has had some beauties, and I have felt quite envious, yours look like his. x

  8. Thanks Louise! My garden does have potential, and I enjoy having colourful and fragrant flowers around the place. I'm also a fan of window boxes and planters. Yes, the tuberous begonias are special, and I usually have my kitchen window box filled with them, but this year I have an assortment of flowers.
