New Beginnings

My life has become busier than usual, thanks to my choice of applying for a new job position. After eleven years in the same place, I will be moving in January to a bigger school, closer to home. In the next few weeks I will be packing up, leaving things ready for the next person, and then heading off to new beginnings. Somewhere in there, Christmas will be happening as well! Needless to say, blogging has dwindled to a halt!

However I'd like to share a few photos I've managed to capture in the last few days. The first is my new header which is a sunrise I saw on my way to work the other morning.

Each school in our district has an RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) liaison who works with the children through various programs. One of the programs involves discussions about drugs, alcohol etc. and decision making. We also acknowledge children who "solve problems in peaceful ways". Today, at the award ceremony, two RCMP came in their red serge and shiny boots ~ always an impressive sight. One of the fellows seemed to fill a doorway!

These other photos were taken on my way home today after a long day at work. I took the pink feathered sky photo from our road. The Full Cold Moon was very visible in the crisp and clear skies over the ocean. Often there is an eagle perched on the top of the tree ~ but unfortunately not there in this shot.

  1. All the best to you in your new post.
New beginnings are bitter sweet. Leaving old friends and meeting new ones.
    The header picture is delightful!
I can totally relate with the blogging thing.... I haven't got as much time at all lately with one thing and another. I have a theory that ture friends will be there whatever and others probably won't miss me anyway! hehehe

  5. Daffy ~ Thanks for the good wishes. Bittersweet is right ~ especially after hearing the comments from staff, parents and students. Goodness me! They are feeling sad!
Glad you like the header ~ I hear it may snow over the weekend, but then be sunny on Monday, so don't know what my next header might look like! Yes, true friends can just take up where they left off, no matter how long the time away :)

Flighty ~ Thanks for the congrats. I'm sure it will work out just fine, once I deal with the work that needs to be done before I leave. Glad you enjoyed the pictures :)

Nikki ~ Pleased you like the header ~ yes, it is rather dramatic. I have to pull off the highway when I see such sights and put on my car light flashers, so I can get a good shot.
You have pinpointed my exact hopes ~ that I will be challenged and energized by the change!

Thanks Selba ~ Although I've been in the same school for 11 years, I've worked in the school district for much longer ~ and I'm still at it! Pleased to share the photos with you :)

  6. Good luck in the new job. It takes a brave soul to make a change after so long in a job where you feel safe.

I like how the North American schools keep law enforcement reps on campus so they can mingle with the kids and be seen as humans. Kids have a healthier respect for police/firefighters/armed forces over here, it's a fact.

  8. Glad to hear you have a new position that will be closer to home. You certainly have your hands full these days. It was so nice of you to take the time to post more lovely scenic photos for those of us who are starved for natural beauty :) Also, enjoyed the sharp looking RCMP pics.

  9. Yolanda ~ thanks for the congrats! It's a busy enough time of the year without this added excitement, but I hope to enjoy the new job once I get there!

Roomie ~ Yes, I've so much to do, I don't really know where to start. I think it's best I make some lists to organize myself ~ at least one for home, one for work, and one for the new job! Pleased you enjoyed the pics ~ ;)
