Christmas in Town

Today I ventured out to get my windshield replaced in my car after a rock pit had spread horizontally across the window due to the cold weather. I decided to have a look around the town and do a bit of shopping while it was being replaced. I carried only one bag so that certainly limited many purchases!

I saw a couple of sights that I found amusing:

A carved wooden Mountie who looked frozen solid ~ and sported a "high hat" ~

another white headed creature ~

and Tubby Santa with Rudolph

Snow was piled up everywhere ~

I walked some more and then headed to the library where I picked up a couple of books, and read until it was time to get my car ~ I nearly nodded off, it was so warm and cosy in there, not like outside ~

The street lamps came on ~

I picked up my car, stopped for some groceries and back home I went to find that the grader had scraped our street and left a foot of hard crusty snow across the driveway! I managed to "hop" the car over it, and then dug it out!

Our street, with the big grader tracks ~

I made some shortbread and a steamed pudding after supper ~ and tomorrow is Christmas Eve and it's ...........

snowing ! ! !

  1. To think that just a couple of weeks ago you probably wouldn't have envisaged a white Christmas!
Glad to see that your car is now okay!
Good photos, and I like the bath conversion for Santa!
As for the mention of biscuits and a pudding...mmm! xx

  2. Hi Flighty ~ You're so right! We have an 11% chance of snow at Christmas in this area, but this year we have 111% ! There's still some snow forecast which should let up by the weekend when it will warm up and the precipitation turn to rain! It's nice to have clear windshield ~ Today I'm going to pick up the turkey at my friend's farm, and continue on with Christmas preparations. Glad you enjoyed the photos, especially the tub. :)

  3. It's one thing to see snow artfully decorating trees and heaped picturesquely on homes and quite another to see it truly heaped and stacked on top of everything else! Glad you were able to get the car into your driveway (and even see your way in!). Happy christmas!

  4. Hehe, it looks like *everything* is wearing a silly white hat, not just the frozen Mountie :)

Isn't it nice that you can scurry home out of the cold and snow, into your cozy house with warm food and pretty lights?

    Merry Christmas, Glo! xx
