October Sights

Lately there have been many little birds flitting through the trees or pecking around the garden at the fallen seeds. The bird in the header today is, I think, a dark-eyed junco resting on the edge of the birdbath. I managed to get photos of a few other garden inhabitants who looked like they were hunting for food.

The October Full Moon is often referred to as the Hunter Moon. Although the moon was bright last night, I wasn't able to take a photo, however this morning on my way to work, it was still visible.

There are two views in particular that I like checking out on the drive to work ~ the mountain on the one side and, on the other side, the sun as it rises behind the misty field.

  1. Hello Glo! What lovely closeups you got of the critters in your garden. And the moon looks fantastic. I can't seem to get a good pic of it even when it's huge and full of details. Saw it setting on my drive to work yesterday. Just stunning. (btw, couldn't comment linking back to my blog...)

  3. Red Squrrel! How lovely! Not much chance of seeing one of those where I live, plenty grey though! Your photographs are wonderful, I really enjoy a wander over here. I had read about Hunters Moon. This morning when I awaok at just before 6am, I didn't have to put a light on as the full moon was so bright. It really was quite a sight.

  4. Love the images. But you know I love feasting my eyes, so I just repeat myself every time you share them.

I watched that moon rise last night, it popped up nearly as fast as a Jack in the Box!

  5. Nik ~ thanks so much for your comment. I was happy to get that shot of the morning moon! I agree, it's difficult to get a good pic, but I think morning or twilight might be my favorite time for pics of it now. Sorry you couldn't link back to your blog...

Flighty ~ I was surprised the moon pic came out so clearly, as it was hard to tell how it would turn out just by looking through at the camera view. :)

Daffy we were talking about the grey squirrels running out the red ones, and now it looks like the black ones will take care of the grey over there. Nice to think we are all sharing the bright full moon :) Glad you enjoyed the photos. Thanks :)

Liv ~ So pleased you enjoyed feasting your eyes :) I think it's always interesting to see what other parts of the world look like, and what people choose to take photos of :)

  6. Did you know, there are black squirrels in NYC...but it seems they mostly live in the Bronx. Hehe! People in Queens and Brooklyn have never seen them. ;)

  7. Hi There Glo, There is something restful about your photos. I would like to see more birds and little creatures in my yard. I generally see only stray cats or possums. We do get hummingbirds and, occasionally, a flock of green parrots but not many of the sweet little birds you see. Perhaps I am just not out enough :) The moon shot is very nice.

  8. Liv ~ Hehe, is right ;) That's the first squirrel I've ever seen in my back yard...I usually see them in woodland areas. Often raccoons, deer and rabbits around, and neighbourhood cats. Luckily I took the photo of the moon when I did, because it's been cloudy and rainy since!

Roomie ~ Thanks ~ your lovely comment has made me realize that it is rather restful around here! After being around kids all day, I guess I appreciate seeing the quieter side of life! I'd like to see green parakeets :)
