Canada Day, beautiful and breezy

July 1 is Canada Day, a holiday with much celebration ~ maple leaf flags flying, fireworks and the whole bit. However, that's all to come as the day progresses. In the meantime here's some photos and videos from the last little while:

Not flags, but sheets flapping in the breeze! The weather has been beautiful and breezy, perfect weather for hanging out the laundry, which I love to do ~ especially my sheets.

There have been many bird visitors during the week ~ the usual chickadees, nuthatches, robins, but then the crows and ravens decided to descend on the tree above the cherry tree...waiting their chance...the noisy critters!

This picture was taken a few days ago...cherries are nearly ready to pick, that's if the birds have left us any ~

The pears are coming along nicely ~

The hydrangeas are just starting to bloom ~

  1. Love the sheets fluttering in the breeze. They smell so nice when they are dry, don't they?

Thanks for the vids, I enjoyed them and BTW you will be very lucky if the birds leave you any cherries.

  2. Crows are certainly impressive, but slighty intimidating, and raucous birds.
    That's a lovely looking hydrangea.
It's hot and humid here, which has me feeling somewhat frazzled!
    Enjoy Canada day! xx

  3. Beautiful bounty for your eyes, lungs, and tastebuds (well, hopefully your tastebuds!). Your images of those crows make them look enormous!

Those corvids look large and hungry! Nice mix of still and video.
Your fruit is looking well and the bee close up is great.

  6. Hi Yolanda ~ Yes, it's lovely having a long clothes line to hang sheets and summery things ~ and I love the smell of the sheets on a freshly made bed! Well, believe it or not, I have managed to find a few cherries for myself ~ so succulently good. It's a very large cherry tree, so I'm glad the birds enjoyed the cherries too!

Hi Flighty ~ While crows may be noisy, those big black things in the tree are ravens ~ very large and very loud! Just as the rhodos die back, out comes the hydrangeas, and they are so pretty. I'm sorry to hear you are hot and frazzled ~ I think you should send yourself off to the seaside for a week or two! Thanks, re Canada Day ~ it was good to have a break mid-week!

Hi Nikki~ :) Yes, the weather is lovely and everything looks, smells and tastes great! I have managed to get at some ripe cherries. They haven't made it into a bowl yet because they are picked and eaten on the spot! I think those are ravens in the cherry tree...much bigger than crows and noisier. They scare off easy though ~ with a clap of my hands they're gone!

Thanks John! The rose in my header photo is a Folklore. I have some other ones blooming now. I took photos of them yesterday, but my camera batteries died, and while I was recharging them, the most recent photos disappeared from my camera! I'm not even going to try and figure out why! I will take more photos in a few minutes of the roses that are blooming. I also took photos of the apples on the trees, but those photos are missing too.

Thanks Selby ~ It was a great day, and I took some good photos but they have disappeared from my camera due to my batteries needing recharged. Sometimes I know exactly how those batteries feel!
