Back in Business

Our intermittent internet connection cut off and faded into oblivion! After speaking with the internet provider, it was discovered that our modem had become 'obsolete'. Poor thing. Anyway, a new one was promised to be shipped. We waited for 3 days, and after speaking to customer service found out that the new modem had been sent in the mail... snail mail??? I wasn't impressed. After letting the company know that I had decided to change providers (their stiff competition), I was told that a modem would be sent posthaste, in fact expedited. Time passed. I called again, and was promised a substantial reduction on my monthly rate. Finally, after a full week, a box was delivered on the doorstep ~ and the next day, another box was delivered on the doorstep...

So, I'm back in business. Of course, being without internet for a week found me doing lots of other things! I'll post a few photos I've taken over the week of lovely sunny weather. I still have other photos to download, once I get back into the swing of things here.

I had these photos ready when my blogging came to a sudden halt.

A visit from the swallowtail butterfly ~ must have been waiting for the verbena to blossom as it kept flying over the deck each day without stopping! At last ~

This cute little chickadee was having a snooze and enjoying the breeze swinging the feeder cage back and forth ~ lullaby land!

I have a video of birds at the feeder, but it's a bit too long to be uploaded, so I have to see if I can shorten it. A few more bird photos:

Some sky photos from the deck as I relaxed now that I'm on holidays :)

I have had a chance to look around the blogs, but not had time to comment as yet. It will take me some time to catch up, but at least I'm back in business AND on holidays ~ did I mention that? ;)

  1. Welcome back! It's so annoying when 'customer service' is anything but!
Lots of lovely photos, especially the snoozing chickadee, the blue hydrangea and those wonderful skies.
Have a really enjoyable summer break, and I hope that the weather stays good for you. It's been unsettled here lately with some sunshine and plenty of showers.
    Take care! xx

  2. Welcome back, Glo. I know that feeling of withdrawal symptoms when the internet connection fails.

    Beautiful photos of the Chaickadee.

  4. Yay! You've survived customer service and are back! I saw a gorgeous huge butterfly flit past while I watered this morning. I don't think I'm destined to capture one in pixels, but I'm glad you are! That swallowtail is stunning. How nice that the chickadee napped so you could get several pics of him :-)

  5. Hello everyone ~ thanks for the lovely welcome back!

Hi Flighty ~ I hadn't realized to what extent the 'loyalty' department was willing to go to keep me a customer, so I've learned a lot while waiting for the modem, and will now be paying much less per month for their service. Yes, lots of colourful flowers and cute little birds have been around, however now that the cherries have disappeared, so have many of the birds. We have only had two days of rain and many sunshiny days. I hope your showers have helped things grow and haven't dampened your spirits.

Hi John ~ Yes, I'm sure the feeling of being cut off from the rest of cyber world has been experienced by quite a few ~ and it's a weird feeling, isn't it? Glad you like the Chickadee ~ they were just little things, I'd say about 2 in. in length! I was able to get really close to them and they didn't seem to notice.

Hi Selby ~ thanks for checking on my return and so happy you like the photos, especially the Chickadee :)

Hi Nikki ~ Yay, indeed! It was a long haul and who would have guessed that it would have taken so long to be back online! I'm glad the Swallowtail decided to stop by for a bit ~ it was quite involved in the task at 'proboscis', so I was able to take a few shots of it. I bet you have lots of pretty butterflies down your way! There were four or five young chickadees hanging out in that tree, and it took me awhile to realize I could get quite close to them without them being bothered in the slightest! The snoozy one was very cute!

  6. Welcome back Glo and you have some lovely subjects to come back with - the little chickadee is a cute bird!

Frustrating when the net connection goes - how did we ever manage before we had the web!!

    Enjoy your holidays.... :)

  8. Thanks, Tricia. Those little chickadees were sweet! The weather continues to be warm and sunny so I've been outside most of the time enjoying the holidays.

Hi Roomie ~ Although I have taken a lot of photos, some relatives were in the area visiting, so I spent more time flying kites than taking photos ;)
