A breath of sea air

Today, I drove to the hardware store, and took the opportunity to stop on the way back at the beach for a breath of sea air. It was a bit cloudy and windy, but quite invigorating and just what I needed to blow the Halloween cobwebs away!

Some remnants high and dry left over from a warmer day ~

A bit of a break in the clouds ~

Can you spot the eagle in this next shot?

I notice this gorgeous tree each year as it changes colour so gradually that every shade of autumn is on show.

When I got home, there were gusts of wind sending leaves flying everywhere...check out the cherry tree in the back garden ~

I really enjoyed the weekend ~ starting with Halloween, then my birthday, and a nice relaxing Sunday :)

  1. Seeing all the colours on that tree is amazing, Glo. And I can almost smell the cold salty air in your beach photos. "Dropping by the beach" is no easy task around here -- roomie was just wishing we lived closer and had easier access.

  2. Hi Nikki ~ Yes, that particular tree seems to have autumn all wrapped up! Glad to share the sea air with you and can understand why being closer to it for you both would be appealing ~ but your roses like it just where you are! I like the saying "Bloom where you're planted!" ~ it makes me think :)

  3. A breezy day by the look of it, and you'll soon have a leaf covered lawn!
You are so lucky to see eagles like that. Mind you I'm not sure I'd want one on my feeders!
It's good to know that your weekend was enjoyable. xx

  4. Hello from Ontario!

I left a belated birthday wish on Flighty's page for you an hour ago. I'm due to get to the airport in a couple of hours and amd still in my PJ's so must get a move on!

But I enjoyed seeing your Halloween deco and thye carved pumpkins. The colourful trees are a pleasure to behold - the leaves are indeed already gone here in this part. But I tried to take some photos, despite ALLLLL the time we spent in the van on country roads this time round.

See you when I am back in NYC!

  5. Thanks for the birthday greetings and message Liv ~ good to see you were in Canada on my birthday, although still miles and miles away ~ driving on country roads! Looking forward to seeing your pics once you get back to NYC!

  6. The beach is a great place to be on any day of the year, not many clothes in the summer, and too many clothes in the winter! I really do like your pictures of what my granny would call the Autumn tints! x

  7. Hi Louise :) So true about the beach! Actually it wasn't as cold as it looks! I have a great jacket with a liner that is perfect for the wintry weather ~ and as long as I don't fill the pockets with "treasures" (like heart rocks), I can still walk without too much trouble ~ not weighed down by extra blk. Love your Granny's description!

  8. Lovely photos, Glo. Always appreciate the sense of space your images show. You can tell I live in the city! Glad to hear you had such an enjoyable weekend.

  9. Thanks Roomie ~ That's true...a sense of space... Nice way of putting it. Although I like visiting cities, I do prefer the countryside and proximity to the ocean nowadays. I'm always surprised when I go to visit the bigger cities how many people there are on the sidewalks at night ~ when a smaller village seems to fall asleep instead!
