An Abecedarian Assemblage ;)

Photobucket

A is for Angel, a little decoration that I received in a card years ago. There is a partner angel dressed in blue and each of them are hung near the top of my tree each year.

Photobucket

B is for Baking. This is a plate full of goodies I took to a Christmas party in the neighbourhood.

Photobucket

C is for Christmas Cards. I made cards for my nieces with a Starbuck's gift card enclosed. I had fun creating the snowman and little pockets and doodads on the inside.
Photobucket

Photobucket

D is for Dog

This little creature barks out 'I wish you a Merry Christmas' and is a leftover from my days working in the school office. Luckily it has a 'turn off' button ;)

Photobucket

E is for Elmo. I thought of an Elf, or Elf Ears, but when I saw the Muppet Elmo looking so festive and welcoming, I chose him!

Photobucket

F is for French Toast, made from my homemade bread and is being prepared on Boxing Day morning for the crew.
Photobucket

G is for Gumdrops ~ This is Santa on a stick with candies and gumdrops.

Photobucket

H is for Harp ... and Holly and Harzel!

Harp music filtered through the Christmas light display in the woodland gardens.

Photobucket

Holly located on a gate near Harzel.

Photobucket

And here is Harzel (a tree I have been watching throughout the year for the Tree Year Project started by Dreamfalcon)  Now Harzel looks much like it did when I chose him last January.I mistakenly thought it was a Harry Lauder's Walking Stick...but it turned out to be a Convoluted or Corkscrew Hazel (thanks to Midmarsh John for the identification) ...hence Harry+Hazel=Harzel)

Photobucket

I is for Igloo - It was one of the lighted presentations in the woodland garden.

Photobucket

J is for Jingle Bells - hanging on my front door.

Photobucket

K is for Kinglet! The reason I am choosing this cute  Ruby-crowned Kinglet is because his little red patch of feathers is slightly visible on the top of his head. This red patch 'blossoms' when it is in display mode or when the bird is agitated. Can you see it?

Photobucket

L is for Lights -  a house on the corner down the road.

Photobucket

M is for Meat Pies! When I was off meeting my nieces for lunch, I spotted Meat Pies in a butcher shop window.

Photobucket

Photobucket

N is for Nuts! I found this old contraption in my cupboard, so I cleaned it out and put in a fresh supply of nuts.

Photobucket

O is for Ornament! But which one? I used to have this ornament and a few others rotating on a string of lights, however now this just hangs on the tree.

Photobucket

P is for Penguin ~ This is a seasonal tea towel hanging in the kitchen.

Photobucket

Q is for Quail. There is a fairly large covey of California Quail in our neighbourhood. They are often seen scurrying about and, recently, very obligingly passed my front door, through which this photo was taken!

Photobucket

R is for Roses. My nieces presented me with this lovely plant when we met for lunch. It adorns my dining room table.

Photobucket

S is for Snowman. This little fellow sits on a chair beside the Christmas tree.

Photobucket

T is for Trolley. Same luncheon date, I spotted this lit-up Trolley trundling down the street.

Photobucket

U is for Umbrella. It has been a mild winter, and until recently fairly dry. However, rain is much preferable to snow!

Photobucket

V is for Van.

Photobucket

W is for Window.

Photobucket

X marks the spot - on a Scavenger Hunt map.  I spotted these little X-laces on some knitted skates on my tree.

Photobucket

Y is for Yule Log ~ my fireplace.

Photobucket

Z is for Zebra! Doesn't everyone have a Zebra in their Christmas tree?

Photobucket

So there you have it ~

  1. What a great collection. It's so good seeing your list from the U.S. No-one over here has quail or kinglets! Love the trolley bus too!
    Have a wonderful 2012!

  6. I've enjoyed your selection and like Kathy, have loved seeing the quail and kinglets as well as the trolly bus. I think yours is the first tree sebra I've seen:)

  7. I'm totally impressed, Glo! What a lovely collection for this Christmasy collage. To answer your question, no, I haven't got a zebra in my tree. It's just enough to keep cats out of the tree, thank you. Happy new year!

  9. Thanks Kathy! Glad I was able to add a couple of photos that were unique to my part of the world. I'm a hop, skip and jump (or car and ferry ride) from the U.S. border...living on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. Wishing you and yours the best in 2012, too and looking forward to January's list :)

Thanks John - I wondered if I would be able to find all 26; a fun challenge :) Happy New Year to you and Bobby!

Thanks Little Blue Mouse - Glad you enjoyed my selections. Quite the challenge! Yours were great, too. Happy New Year!

Thanks Flighty ~ Quite a lot of fun finding them all, but managed. Glad you liked them. Happy New Year!

Thanks Louise ~ Pleased to know you enjoyed my homemade cards. It's amazing how long they took me to make...Once I had created the first one, the rest came easier. I never know what they're going to end up like until I'm finished :) Happy New Year!

Thanks Rosie ~ I'm glad that I was able to add a few photos from this area that are not seen elsewhere! Haha...the zebra was found amidst a bunch of stuffed animals, festooned with a green ribbon and perched on the tree ;) Happy New Year!

Thanks Nikki! I'm pleased you enjoyed the collage and photos. Yes, keeping live cats out of a tree must be a challenge in itself. They must be thrilled to see something inside that seems to belong outside :) Happy New Year!

Thanks Patrice ~ They were crackle ginger cookies with a drizzle of lemon glaze which I think is a great combination. They are a big hit with those who like ginger! (My kids prefer chocolate). Thanks for the blessings and I send the same to you :)

  10. I think it goes without saying that I failed miserably with the Scavenger Hunt in 2011. My favourite pics here are the holly arrangement and the plate of bakes! x

PS. We love French Toast aka Eggy Bread!
