Eagle eye!

After a clear, cold night hovering around the freezing mark, the day awakened brightly.  We have been enveloped in sea fog for a few days, however, today it was obvious that blue sky would be visible not too far inland.

My photo of the day belongs to this Bald Eagle perched on a tree overlooking the river ~

Eagle eye:

and check out that blue sky!!  Certainly lifted the spirits.

Going for a little hike along paths through open areas intermingled with trees, offered a wonderful way to spend time in the sunshine.

Mountain views, leathery leaves, and chirping birds added to the pleasurable walk.

A very pleasant meander ~ and did I mention the blue sky?

More tomorrow please :)

  2. Not a cloud in the sky. :)

I like all the pictures but that close up of the eagle's head I like the most. It looks 3D! Picture number three does as well.

    1. Thanks John ~ I was pleased as well. It's an interesting area with all sorts of trails leading down to a river. The next bright day, I might head down there again.

  4. Wonderful photos, especially the close up of the eagle. I also like the look of that little streaky brown bird as well.
There's not been much blue sky here, and it looks like getting colder and windier next week. Flighty xx

    1. Thanks Flighty ~ I was pleased to get a clear shot of the eagle. Often they are hidden by branches or far away. The streaky little brown bird seems to be a female housefinch, and would have been harder to spot if it hadn't been on that red branch. No blue sky here either, rainy and dull ~ winter weather :)

  7. Oh...sighs....BLUE SKY!!! Send some here please....pretty please! I just love that eagle, especially the close up shot, I really can't imagine being close to such a magnificent bird and actually being able to photograph it.....fantastic shot! I was thinking about you the other day while watching a programme showing golden eagles in Scotland.....they are so beautiful and graceful in flight. I have never seen sea mist...maybe you could get a pic for me??? What a wonderful place to walk, here's to you having more blue sky days.xxx

    1. Thanks Snowbird ~ yes, the blue sky was a treat, and wish it appeared more often. We ended up with lots of fog and today is back to rain, however, no snow or gales, so must be thankful. Nice to know you thought of me when watching the golden eagles on TV ~ they really are something special. I may head back to that area for another walk when the weather improves. Glad you enjoyed my photos.

  8. And here, we're excited that the skies have clouded over with a teeeeeeny chance of rain. That eagle shot is iconic. Is that a RED cane the bird is on? Glad you got out while the skies are BLUE!

    1. Actually, Nikki, it has been a very dry January, but foggy for the most part, so a blue sky day is a real treat. It is raining now, but at least it isn't snowing! Glad you enjoyed the eagle shot, and yes that is a red cane with autumnish colours that the female housefinch is perched upon so sweetly. I'll take a better look at the branches on my next visit.
