Celebrations!

A very Happy Birthday to Nikki ~ and thank you to Flighty for his lovely reminder with gorgeous Pretty Lady rose. I searched high and low through my garden for a rose, but could only find tight buds. It wasn't until I walked by the side of the house that I noticed a very small (1" diameter) velvety red rose! So here's the first rose of the year and the only blooming rose in my garden, Nikki!

While I was searching for a rose, I spotted a pollen-laden bee on the flowering chives. Check out the orange pollen sacs!

The honeysuckle is starting to bloom and spread its fragrance...the bees and hummingbirds will be happy!

Other celebrations include a bridal shower I attended yesterday for my niece who will be getting married in August. As a reminder that June is often the month associated with weddings, I recently witnessed a beautiful bride and her handsome groom amongst the spring greens of the woodland garden:

I loved seeing the interaction of these two wedding guests ~ I loved how the young girl bent down for eye contact with the little fellow, and how he held her hand. Such a caring, sweet sight.

We have had some fantastic evening skies and sunsets.

I'll leave you with this (not very good) shot of a bunny at the bottom of the street. I like the way the sunlight shone through his pink little ears. Once he spotted me, all I  could see was its white cotton tail hopping off ~ perhaps it was heading off for a celebration of its own :)

  4. Nice little rose bud. I have chives popping up everywhere these days and they are great for attracting insect life. Looks like you have had some lovely sunsets recently.

  5. Thanks Flighty :) A few more of those little red carpet roses are blooming and lots of buds on the other roses...I'm anticipating some blooms one day before too long!

Thanks ShySongbird ~ Nikki has a beautiful rose garden and inspired me to plant one of my own ~ a very small version of her beatific blooms.
I was amazed at the pollen the bee had collected, and yes I really thought the girl was being so kind with the little boy. Glad you liked the sunsets, too.

Thanks Nikki ~ and I have you to thank for getting me started on my little rose garden...hopefully more buds will bloom soon. Glad to hear you had a lovely birthday.

Thanks John ~ Chives' flowers are so pretty and obviously sought after by the bees ~ as you know as well since you have lots of them. Lovely sunsets are pretty special and hopefully there'll be some lovely summer ones, too.

  7. Chive flowers are very popular with bees - mine this year have been covered in bees of the red-bottomed variety! Lovely photos Glo, and always love to see a bunny too. x
