Upcoming forecast:
This was a full month of summer activities, starting out with Canada day on July 1 ~
On with the Photo Scavenger Hunt:
1. D is for ...diving
The airshow was held on one of the days when it rained, so the photos and videos show a grey sky, and the odd raindrop on my lens...
Here's a video I took of some of the action overhead ~
2. Wide
Open wide.... chocolate cupcake coming your way ~
3. Edge
A sand castle competition offered a perfect choice for this category ~ My Better Half, with distinct sliced edges ~
4. Cylindrical
until I saw the can of spinach belonging to Popeye at the sand castle competition.
5. Feelings
Some of you may remember the Neigh-Baas that are buddies with steadfast feelings of friendship towards each other. Recently I saw them together near the edge of their (dry) field brightened by the dahlia background.
6. Mysterious
I saw a mysterious person covered in a white cloth, perhaps to shield herself from the hot day. and when she turned to face me, she remained cloaked in mystery.
7. Weed
This bee is pollen-clad and seems to have selected a perfect weed.
Bee-fore:
Bee-hind:
8. Joke
Knock knock joke continues here:
9. Pile
A pile of rocks forming a breakwater.
10. Speed
Back to the sand castle competition, and Einstein's Relativity Sculpture ~
The
equivalence of energy E and mass m is reliant on the speed of light c and is described by the
famous equation: E = mc 2
11. Night
A July sunset at the beach ~
I was admiring this beautiful shell ~
~ apparently I wasn't the only one ~
Thanks to greenthumb for hosting these monthly photo scavenger hunts, and also thanks to those who visit my blog. Any comments much appreciated :)
Great picks for the list. I love the knock knock joke and the silly bee - and the shell best. Terrific to capture the gull in flight. I also wonder who that woman was.
ReplyDeleteThanks JoAnn ~ glad you enjoyed my photos. I was pleased to capture the bull with that very same shell in its beak. I enjoy playing with Photoshop...can you tell? ;)
DeleteA great set of photos; very entertaining videos, wonderful sand sculptures and the cake looks tempting!
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda P. Happy to know you enjoyed the videos. The sand sculptures were amazing!
DeleteI'm envying you your endless sunshine as it's been scarce here. The sand sculptures are amazing, particularly edge. Loved joke too :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Julie. Well, we are still 'enjoying' sunshine...although everything is so very very dry, that we'd dance in the rain if it ever came! The sand sculptures really were unbelievable...and pleased to know you enjoyed the joke!
DeleteA brilliant collection as always. I love all the photos of those sand sculpture and that was a very pretty shell. I love your little video for joke too - you have such a great (and fun) imagination and sense of humour!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment and kind words about my photos, imagination and sense of humour! Much appreciated!
DeleteFab photos Glo. Those sandcastles are amazing! Your photo for speed is very clever and that cupcake looks delicious.
ReplyDeleteThanks Fiona ~ I was glad to be able to share some of the sandcastle sculptures during this month's scavenger hunt. Kind of helpful when there is an exciting event offering photo opps!
DeleteWonderful photos, Glo - really enjoyed them all but especially all the sand sculptures - also love the joke and the shell:)
ReplyDeleteThanks Rosie ~ pleased to know you enjoyed my photos .... :)
DeleteAs always a good selection of pictures. I enjoyed the sight and and sound of the biplanes. That cupcake looks delicious. I really like the sunset at the beach picture. Flighty xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Flighty. I thought you might like the sound of the planes. It was one of the only days there was a grey sky... but at least I didn't get blinded by sunlight! Although a small airshow, it was very impressive. Glad you enjoyed my photos.
DeleteWonderful set of photos I do like how clever they are building sand castle, and I'm very happy to see the sheep and horse are still together..
ReplyDeleteAmanda xx
Thanks Amanda ~ the talent and skills for creating such amazing sand castles is unbelievable! Yes the Neigh-baas are still together :)
DeleteA fab and fun collection of pics.I would love to see some sand sculptures and I liked the cute neigh baaas.:)
ReplyDeleteThanks Shazza ~ although the sand sculpturing competition is held in a small town, it is a real tourist draw in the summer with over 90,000 people attending...thankfully not all at once ;) The sandcastles stay up for over a month and will be shortly finished...August 16.
DeleteThanks for taking part in this months scavenger hunt. I really like your photos of, edge, whatever you want and wide. Greenthumb
ReplyDeleteThanks greenthumb ~ Glad you enjoyed my photos and I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with for August!
DeleteAnother imaginative selection Glo. Love the sand sculptures and the knock knock joke. I was expecting you to fall over while you videoed the biplane flying overhead.
ReplyDeleteThanks John ~ Glad you enjoyed my photos and video. You're right about me nearly falling over with the biplane flying overhead....I was wishing I had an owl's swivel neck ;)
DeleteI enjoyed your photos so much, Glo! The video of the air show made me feel like I was there! I was just at the sand castle competition in Parksville! So did you vote for one? I had a tough time making up my mind, but I finally went with the one that had all the tiny trees on it! Who knows, maybe we passed by each other! Wonderful shot of the seagull with the shell. Roger and out!
ReplyDeleteHow amazing that you were also at the Sandcastle competition! Wow, it is a small world ~ yes we may have crossed paths. I voted for the one with the gears...can't remember the name of it now. I thought they were all spectacular. Glad you enjoyed my photos...
DeleteLoved the sand sculptures - there are some clever people out there. Nice to see Neigh and Baa - looks like their field is pretty well cropped - hope you get some rain soon.
ReplyDeleteHi Elaine ~ nothing to speak of in the rain department yet....It is dry dry dry!!! When the wind blows, the leaves actually crackle.... leaves are falling off and the pumpkins are ready a month early. Weird weather. Glad you enjoyed the sand sculptures ~ and I look for Neigh and Baa everyday... I hope they get lots of other food because the field is bare!
DeleteI do hope you get rain soon, dry periods don't help our gardens!
ReplyDeleteI was laughing at both your videos, marvelous stuff! I wish I had a woodpecker on my stump, does yours ever get anything? That tree will surely come down one fine day the way he goes at it!
Oh....did the gull take the shell.....ahhhh....a lovely set of pics as always, the aerial activity was splendid and the sand sculptures amazing! How atmospheric the mysterious woman is.....just loved that and neigh-baas of course.....struth, where does a month go???xxx
Thanks Snowbird ~ no rain that measured anything more than 1mm, which wasn't enough to make a difference, other than remind us that it does exist. It really is drier than it has ever been...and causing a lot of concern. Gold is the new green.
DeleteI think the woodpecker must get ants because they are all over the tree. I haven't seen it for awhile. Pleased that you enjoyed my photos... and yes, the months are whipping by.
Oh my, I giggled at the seagull holding that maaaaaassive shell in its mouth! VERY clever representation of speed! I've never seen sand sculptures like that in real life, I'd like to! Great photos!
ReplyDeleteP.S. sorry I am late visiting, I always visit after I've done mine and I'm er- a little bit late for the hunt!x
Hi Kezzie ~ good to see you, and happy to know you enjoyed my photos. Although the shell is huge, I have seen gulls eat whole sea stars which is amazing to watch. The sand sculptures were amazing! Hope you get to see some!
