Out and about...

I had occasion to visit Victoria again recently, fortunately on a clear sunny day ~  Mt. Baker located in Washington State, USA lent a surreal background to the Oak Bay Marina.

At home, two hummingbirds were noticed at the front feeder, and apparently have both shared the nectar, however I didn't catch a photo.  I decided to add another feeder to the back, and hung it from the flowering cherry tree... can you spot the tiny hummingbird?

I love seeing the trees come into blossom ~ just so beautifully delicate.

Out and about, there are other signs of spring ~ being protected by their guardian donkey.

Other birds and beasts ~

A Bald headed Eagle amongst the new spring leaves ~

Not too sure what he has his eyes on here, but at least it's not me :)

Bison ~

Also, I had The Goldfinch on order at the library, and it arrived a few days ago with a fourteen day time limit to read the tome of 771 pages...so I got right at it and went on a reading marathon....it has now been returned for the next reader!
I have also been collecting photos for the April scavenger hunt which is due at the end of this month.

We've been having a typical spring of unsettled weather...but it is a lovely time of the year.  I have been reading blogs, but not commenting recently ~ my apologies!

I noticed a creature while out and about that reminded me of someone ~

and also after reading that unbelievably busy Snowbird's post today, I couldn't help but include a restful photo using her garden as a backdrop and her words as the incentive (ohh...and her face ;)).

    1. Thanks Hilary ~ Mount Baker is not always visible, so it certainly caught my eye when I was on the marine scenic drive.

  3. Lovely pictures especially the bald eagle - wow. I have The Goldfinch waiting to be read but am finding the size of it a bit intimidating - did you enjoy it? I am sure Snowbird will love the image of her amongst the blossom it made me chuckle.

    1. Hi Elaine ~ Glad you enjoyed the photos. I did enjoy The Goldfinch, however I would have preferred not having a deadline of two weeks because I basically hurried through it...faster than I needed to, but wanted to make sure I finished it in time. It is a gripping tale and trying to absorb it all in a few days left me feeling a bit overwhelmed and drained!

  6. I have to say, this piccie of me in my floaty frock under my cherry tree has absolutely made my day!!! You are wonderful and so very clever....not to mention very thoughtful. That must have taken ages, but I really do appreciate it. Now to have it printed and framed!!!

That poem is fantastic too and had me laughing out loud!!!

Every time I see your bald headed eagle I get goosebumps, what a magnificent bird, and the hummingbird is gorgeous, could you send a few over here please???? Pretty please??? I did enjoy the bison too. Wonderful post!xxx

    1. So happy to know you enjoyed the picture ~ you suit the attire, although I'm sure you haven't packed your frothy frock for your vacation in the Lakes :) Hope you have a wonderful time. Glad you enjoyed the poem, too.

The bald headed eagles are indeed amazing and I'm always happy to get a close up photo.

When I looked out of the front window this morning, a came face to face with a hummingbird who was looking in ~ so cute, it took me by surprise. It then went to the feeder. They are delightful little creatures!

  7. I'm so glad you created an image with our dear Snowbird in romantic attire :-) And to think her nick-name is Hedgehog Woman!

Wonderful wonderful signs of spring, Glo. I'll never tire of seeing cherry blossoms. A fitting pairing with that baby hummingbird -- both delicate and stunningly beautiful.

Have you read any other Donna Tartt book? I haven't read this acclaimed new one, but did read The Secret History (another looong one). She's an amazing writer (even though I didn't like the ending of TSH).

    1. Hi Nikki ~ Snowbird (aka Hedgehog Woman) does suit her attire and romantic surroundings, doesn't she? I was thinking about adding some little critters in the scene, but decided to just leave the lovely scene as is.

I do enjoy the spring blossom and am sorry to see the petals drift away, as they are starting to do now. More blossom is appearing in the form of pear and apple blossom, so that's a good thing.

No, I haven't read any other Donna Tartt novels ~ and think I won't be reading any more for awhile. I'm still recovering from The Goldfinch marathon ;) Yes, I agree she is a terrific author and also really invested so much time (11 years) in writing this one.

  8. Great post Glo. I envy your varied scenery. Love the startled looking hedgie and poem.
Our blossom tress are now losing their flowers. On a windy day it's like walking through a petal blizzard.

    1. Glad you enjoyed the post, John ~ and having a look at this part of the world. That 'ledgehog' was quite the find as I was looking at some crafted cedar swings and arbours etc. I don't know if the fellow made it ~ I wish I'd asked. Yes, we are now experiencing cherry blossom petal blizzard ~ time for apple and pear blossom.
