Hi Nikki ~ It wasn't until I saw the gull with the starfish (sea star) hanging out of its mouth, that I realized I had quite a few photos of birds with overflowing beaks ;) Birds really are amazing! I'm sure family members were waiting for their 'grub'...except for the gull ... it swallowed that thing whole!
Last night I was watching a TV programme showing a ground Jay in China which spent ages trying to fit extra food in its beak to take to its youngsters. A serious job for the bird but sometimes very amusing to watch.
That must have been a very interesting show about the Jay. I love watching those kind of programs as they are very enlightening and amazing. The gull took a long time to down the sea star!
Too funny, Glo. Though, given that they haven't got hands to carry things, maybe some of these birds are ferrying food to their families!

DeleteHa... very cute.
ReplyDeleteThanks Hilary ~ Except for the gull, these birds were in my back garden during the summer.
DeleteBrilliant! Flighty xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Flighty!
ReplyDeleteIt's astonishing how much birds can fit into their beaks! But then they're often gathering food for a whole nestful of nestlings!
ReplyDeleteI was quite amazed to see how much can 'fit the bill'! Thanks for commenting :)
