Blue, Green and In-Between

A much better day weatherwise after the snow last night...in fact, blue skies beckoned and I decided to head in another direction today, and to a different forest. I was curious what the combination of filtered sun and snow remnants would produce. Notice the evaporation coming off the tree trunks. I heard a lot of chattering and skittering and managed to capture a photo of the little fellow.

Here is my little forest creature:

I tried to post my beach slideshow, but something was amiss so will try tomorrow, in the meantime here's a sample:

Weather...or not?

A little look at the snow covering taken from the front door last night. The snow seems to be melting today, but who knows what to expect next!

Music and Candlelight

Just a quick post before I head to bed. It has been another strange day for weather, and has ended up snowing quite heavily this evening! I took the opportunity to enjoy the sight, turning off the lights between 8 and 9 p.m. for earth hour, and lit candles.

Later I listened to live streaming classical music through this URL
http://classicalwebcast.com/europe.htm
which included some favorite pieces, Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata, Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, and Roderigo's Concierto de Aranjuez. What a lovely and relaxing end to the day.

Reflections

After walking through the garden, I headed to the beach. The tide was out farther than ever, and after hopping over and through a bit of water, I realized I could walk along, what appeared to be, miles and miles of sand. I could see much bird activity in the distance at the water’s edge so I headed in that direction.

I noticed a beautiful still pool and as I neared it, I reflected on mirrored thoughts.

As I got closer, those tiny pearls of wisdom returned, releasing surface tension by adding their thoughts to the pool.

Just then the wind picked up, and blew across the pool rippling the surface and causing me to turn around and look at the sky.

Wow! I quickly put up and fastened my waterproof hood and tucked my camera into my jacket. I walked with my back to the wind towards the water’s edge, marveling at the stormy skies. On and on I walked, watching the storm move past and across to the mainland.

Here's a few photos in a slideshow format of the storm moving along until I reached the end of the open sand.

Another amazing spectacle were the "gulls galore along the shore". Here's a slideshow to give you an idea.

And here is a little movie entitled "Don't Bother the Crow" which will give you a sense of being right in the midst of it all.

We can't leave the day with that racket, so here's just a touch of a rainbow, the return of blue skies and the snow on the mountains as I headed home.

Woodland Garden Walk

It looked like a decent day for weather, so off I went with my camera to a Woodland Garden. It wasn't long before I realized I was being pelted by tiny pearls of wisdom, more commonly known as hailstones. Not to worry. I was dressed for any kind of weather.

As I passed into a clearing, I caught a glimpse of a couple of mallards. What an ideal location to build a nest! She seemed to be quite excited about the idea.

I hope they stay and raise a family, a topic, no doubt, they are discussing!

Other signs of Spring were also very much in evidence.

The inside of the snowdrop is beautiful too!

Here's Robin and his little buddy Dark-eyed Junco.

Noticing the tide was out, I decided to head to
the beach.

To the beach...

A kiss of misty morn

Heron landing

On one of my many walks to and along the beach, I was able to capture a sight in my camera that I continue to enjoy. This photo of a Great Blue Heron landing on a rock is one such picture that I'd like to share with you.

Perfection

Take-off!

This is my first blog and entry! I take many photos and enjoy the freedom that digital photography offers. I have been known to manipulate pictures in a humorous way on occasion (ahem)...and also have dabbled with animation. Some of my photos have inspired my poetic sense, and I will attempt to share some of these on this blog.

Thank you to Flighty for suggesting I gave this a go!
